Kia ora, I am Sinead Hegarty, a registered music therapist in Hawkes Bay / Te Matau-a-Māui. Music is a uniquely powerful resource for promoting both individual and collective wellbeing. I seek to build therapeutic relationships that respect and affirm the musicians I work alongside, in their culture, disability, sexuality, gender, neurocognitive style and spiritual practices.

Music “ It is vibrating. It is full of life-giving nutrients []. It quenches our thirst. It goes to and comes from the heart. It travels through all of times and contains the wisdom of the ages. It restores. It recreates and cleanses. It brings us to the community and life as a whole.”

— Carolyn Kenny (2006) - Indigenous studies scholar and Music Therapist, quote from "Music and life in the Field of Play: An Anthology

Funding options for accessing Music Therapy

Finances should not be a barrier for people to receive the support they need. I am happy to work alongside you, your whānau, your school or organisation to access the funding you might be eligible for.

I am currently running a fully funded weekly community music band mentoring programme called LOUD & PROUD, made to be accessible in every way.
